A Day at the Hospital

Today, I spent the day at the hospital here in Greece. It was unexpected... but not to worry... it was for the birth of a beautiful baby girl! Some of my new friends here in Athens had their second daughter today, and what an honor it was to be able to share in their joy! I've met some precious people while I've been here, and as one of them was sharing with me tonight, it seems like I've known many of them for years... not just a week and a half. I love that about the family of God around the world!

Yesterday I finished my second class for RHEMA Greece. All but two of the students are pictured here. The are a wonderful charter class- 26 in all- with a hunger to learn and grow in their relationship with God. My subjects were very detailed with a lot of facts- Bible History and Church History- and I had their pens flying! It was a lot of information to pack in to just 10 hours of teaching. Originally I thought I had 15 hours and that seemed like a challenge, so 10 stretched me even more, but God was faithful and we finished right on time.

We've been limited on the amount of office set up we've been able to tackle mainly because the walls for the office hadn't gone up yet! Even so, we've been able to get some forms in place for the school and work on some other "virtual office" set up, too.  There is still much to be done, but we've begun!

Pastor Spyros allowed me to share for part of the Wednesday night service last week and I'll be doing the same for tomorrow's service as well. As always, the Lord has provided some special one-on-one interactions, too. I'm looking forward to my last few days and am continuing to expect God-connections and God-assignments!

On the Road Again... In the Air Again!

I’m in the midst of final preparations for my departure to Greece. I leave tomorrow and can hardly believe the day has arrived. I know God’s good purpose will prevail there just as it has while I’ve been here in Illinois and Wisconsin. I shared at Banner of Truth International last Thursday and was blessed and encouraged by the fellowship. House of Refuge, one of the Banner of Truth congregations, was the church I regularly attended and was on staff at before moving to Oklahoma for Bible School. On Thursday we had a potluck meal and I was able to share with them about some of the places God has sent me to these past two years. They support me on a monthly basis, and I wanted them to have the opportunity to see what they had been a part of through their giving.

Saturday had a real change of plans because at the last minute the Women's Meeting at Bay View Lutheran in Wisconsin had to be cancelled. I still went to their evening service on Saturday night, though, and the Pastor had me get up and share for a few minutes. It was also very special because it was missions weekend at their church. My Grandma used to make quilt tops that were sent all over the world, and this happened to be the Sunday when Bay View was praying for this year’s quilts. They had them all out on the pews. It was wonderful to be able to join them in prayer as well as to honor the memory of my Grandma in the midst.

On Sunday night at Door of Life Church, 30-35 young women from the local Junior High and High School were there. Many denominations were represented as well as many who were not active in church at all. From my heart I can say that each one encountered the Lord and His love as He ministered to them while I shared from my personal testimony. The pastor's daughters invited people to come forward for prayer at the end and not many did, but it was more about them having a personal encounter with Him. I could see Him working in them, touching them, changing them and healing places in their hearts as I spoke and then as we took time to personally receive His love right where we were. It was incredible! The pastor’s daughters were also able to help with the service and it was wonderful to see them be bold to take their place in ministry. Afterwards, I was able to hear some of the stories of how people were impacted. The Holy Spirit was present to heal the broken hearted... and He did!

No I’m back to Rockford repacking, regrouping and refocusing for Greece! I appreciate your prayers as I go, and will share reports as I can. Blessings!

No Regrets

In many ways it’s been a challenging few days. I’ve been standing against sickness in my body and holding fast to the reality that Jesus not only paid the price for my redemption from sin but sickness, too. By His stripes I was healed… and so I AM! But there has been some other challenging news, too. My friend’s Grandma is not doing well and they expect that she will go on to be with Jesus within a few days. With my leaving to minister up north in a few days, the reality is that I will not be here to support my friend and her family during this time. It stirs a lot on the inside… already grieving her passing, remembering being overseas when my own Grandma passed away last year… And yet I hold fast to knowing that this comes as no surprise to God. I know with confidence that He opened the doors for me to go north and minister this next week, and also that it was at His direction that I go to Greece during this time. And so I rest. It just brings home, again, the reality that there are sometimes sacrifices to be made. It’s always worth it, though. Last year when I left to go overseas I left a gift for a friend in anticipation of her getting engaged while I was gone and still wanting to celebrate with her even if I couldn’t do so in person. This year, I face needing to leave a sympathy card behind in anticipation of a friend losing a precious loved one. Near or far, we can still have impact in one another’s lives, though… through prayer, e-mail, Skype calls and all the rest, and in the end we trust those we care for into the loving hands of the Lord. He is faithful and He is always there. Thanks for your prayers as I make my final travel plans and as I prepare to share in various locations next weekend.
