In these days when so many are experiencing fears and uncertainties, I’ve found myself focused on praying for people to experience God's peace. Recently in my daily reading, though, this footnote expounded on the meaning of Shalom (Peace). Some I was familiar with but not all...I'd never heard that the Hebrew symbols (letters) used for Shalom meant to 'destroy the authority that binds to chaos’.
This really blessed me, though, as it gave me greater revelation as to the effectiveness of praying for peace…especially in the light of things happening around the world. The entry in my Bible was certainly timely in reminding me that Peace (Shalom) also speaks of wholeness, wellness, safety, victory, true rest and so much more, too. When we pray for peace or speak peace over situations, it is both a declaration of blessing and promise as well as a declaration of authority over chaos orchestrated by the enemy.
So I encourage you to declare Shalom (Peace!) over your life and those you love today with this fresh understanding of it’s meaning. God's Kingdom promises of righteousness, peace and joy are what will anchor our hope in His Love though this storm!!
