Tears Over Tea

Just a quick one today. Last night I got together with a friend of mine for some simple fellowship but also to talk about Greece. She and another friend of mine oversee the Stateside office for Pastor Spyros Voulgaris (Helpers International) who I will be connecting up with in Athens in October. She has also traveled there herself more than once and I knew she would have insights to share.

It was so much more than an "informational meeting", though. I so treasure the relationships God allows me to share with people. We talked about our testimonies and what God has done in our lives over the years, and that in itself was an incredible blessing. But as she shared about the people of Greece and what she knows God desires to do in their lives and in that nation, tears welled up in her eyes. It was the compassion and love of God... HIS heart for them being expressed right there in my midst.

So while the practicalities of the "how to's" and "what not's" were important, it was the opportunity to experience, to capture and to take hold of God's heart for Greece that meant the most to me last night. More than ever, I'm anticipating what God has in store for those two weeks. I go to be His representative to the people.  To love them, to learn from them, to experience life with them, and to live and express His life in their midst.  Thanks for your prayers as God continues to prepare my heart and theirs for the time I will be there.
