The first day of October dawned in Grand Rapids, MI where I had been visiting for my Uncle's 70th birthday, but by the end of that day, my 13-year old niece and I had arrived in Kentucky on our way to North Carolina for a Women's Conference I was a part of there. I was able to spend that whole week with my niece and it was a very special time. As she is an avid horse- and outdoors-lover, we went to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington as well as waterfall-hunting in North Carolina. It was also a special gift to have her with me during the Women's Conference at Spoken Word Church in Brevard.
The Women's Conference was such a demonstration of the Body of Christ coming together and working together in unity and common purpose. Each message and ministry time fit together like a puzzle, and every person present had a part to play as we worshiped, encouraged one another, discovered more about our God-designed piece and place, and were challenged to make fresh commitments to offer our lives to Him. He did a work in each person present, and restoration was a common theme in so many lives and in so many ways. As He did His work in each person, it was with a fresh desire imparted to go out and touch the lives of others as well. New doors are open!
I was especially humbled--and overjoyed--that some people had traveled 45 min from a neighboring city because they had heard that I was coming to share and that I had overcome self-injury. I was told the middle school in their town has had a self-injury- epidemic going on. Although my message didn't involve my story this time, God was still able to provide an opportunity for me to talk with them personally, and He was so good to meet and minister to them through me and others that day. While God did so much more, that in itself would have made the trip there worth-while.
I also made some unexpected connections relating to Day of Beauty while I was there as time allowed me to speak with the campus counselor as well as meet with the campus chaplain at a local college there. I was able to do some prayer walking on the campus with a friend of mine too. God is stirring on college campuses all over the country and around the world, and I want in on it!
You all are a gift to me, as well, as I travel from place to place on the varied assignments the Lord gives. Knowing that there are those who believe in and support the unique plans and purposes that God has called me to means so much. I look forward to updating you again soon. In the meantime, thank you so much for your love, prayers and support.
